Comprehensive plan for the upliftment of the Tribal people of the North-Eastern India

  • Starting a network of Ashram Schools, and Vocational Centres in the region with an assured 100 percent grant by Social Welfare Department government of India.

  • Raising of DAV Foundation Ashram School, Manipur (Imphal) to Senior Secondary School Level.

  • Provision made for admitting Tribal Student in the job-oriented and professional courses in DAV Colleges of Punjab and Haryana. The entire expenditure on their education, books, boarding and lodging would be borne by the DAV College Managing Committee.

For the Under privileged of the Society

Under the Scheme, free education, transport, uniforms, books and after-noon snacks are provided to the disadvantaged and the under-privileged. The Hans Raj Model School, Punjabi Bagh, New Delhi was the first to set the pace. The Scheme extends to other DAV Public Schools of Delhi and covers more than 10,000 students at present.

A centre for Mentally retarded and physically handicapped children.

Kulachi Hans Raj School, Ashok Vihar, New Delhi is a pioneer in this field. About 160 children are taken care of under this specially integrated programme, with the object of making such children feel loved and wanted. It is heartening that the Kendria has been allotted a piece of land measuring 1000 sq. Yds. by the Lt. Governor of Delhi.

Adult Literacy Drive and Vocational Trainings

Under this programme, poor and distressed women are imparted vocational training like tailoring and knitting. At the conclusion of this 9 month programme, each trainee is gifted with a sewing machine. Kulachi Hans Raj Model School, Ashok Vihar, New Delhi, with 175 intakes, Darbari Lal DAV Model School, Pitampura, Delhi, DAV Public School, Vikas Puri, Darbari Lal Public School, Shalimar Bagh, and Suraj Bhan DAV Public School, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi, each with 50 women, are conducting this programme.

The DAV also runs a DAV Crafts and Vocational Center for destitute women, Yamunanagar: A center of vocational training for destitute women to help them earn their living.
