Arya Yuvak Samaj: the need for a resurgence - by Punam Suri
Our country is going through dangerous times. Slowly the Vedic values seem to be ebbing away. We seem to be increasingly adopting the Western Lifestyle and the western way of thinking without going through the pros and cons of this kind of lifestyle. This is leading to instability and tension within the society, this is certainly an unfavorable situation to lay the foundation of a good society.
During times of such duress, it is the youth of the country who take the first step and give a new and better direction to society. However the youth of our country are faced with a difficulty in taking the right decision.
They are unable to realize the gravity of the situation. Their creative energies are not getting the proper outlets. The uncertainties surrounding the future have led to a marked increase in their indecisiveness. They want to get rid of these uncertainties, and this can happen only when their creative energies are used optionally. This inspired the Arya Pradeshik Pratinidhi Sabha and the DAV College Managing Committee to restart the Arya Yuvak Samaj.

Before independence Arya Yuvak Samaj was a captivating unit Schools and colleges of the DAV and the Arya Samaj were attached to the Arya Yuvak Samaj. During Social change its presence was felt at practically all levels throughout society. The members of this organization had a vision to change their society for the better and remove all societal evils from their country. They had the strength and passion to fulfill their vision. However over the passage of time this passion seemed have cooled down. A constant need for this organization was felt when the plans for the upliftment of society had to be put into action.
Keeping this in view, when a demand was put forward to restart the Arya Yuvak Samaj in front of the President of the Arya Pradeshik Pratinidhi Sabha and the DAV College Managing Committee, Padamshree G P Chopra ji, he not only gave the permission but started working towards garnering the resources for restarting the Arya Yuvak Samaj. He formulated the agenda for the Arya Yuvak Samaj himself and ordered that it be formulated from all over the country. For this he made a request to all DAV educational institutions to constitute a branch of the Arya Yuvak Samaj in their institutions.

Padamshree G P Chopra ji, gave the responsibility of fighting all the social evils to the Arya Yuvak Samaj. He also ordered that wherever beneficial work is being done by the Arya Samaj, the Arya Yuvak Samaj should help out. This organization was seen as giving completion to the Arya Pradeshik Pratinidhi Sabha, and along with this it would serve to attract today's youth towards Vedic values, a stir a feeling of patriotism, and during such testing times to differentiate between right and wrong.
